Bookings for Parties and Events

Bookings are to be made in writing, by email. Payment for the appropriate attendance fee is to be made before the event. Where specific pottery bisque is requested, I will make every effort to supply this; however, where products are unavailable from suppliers, I will try to arrange an acceptable alternative.

Payment for pottery painted is to be paid either by individual participants or by the event organiser on the day of the event.

Take-Home Clay and Painting kits

Materials and equipment is supplied on trust. No deposit is required. It is the hirer's responsibility to return all items in clean condition within the agreed time frame. All  pottery ordered is to be paid for on or before collection or delivery of the pack, and no refund will be given if pottery is damaged while in a customer's possession.

Studio Health and Safety

Users of the studio ("Clay Cabin") do so at their own risk, with awareness of the inherent hazards of a pottery studio, which include, but are not limited to, use of sharp tools, pottery items with sharp edges, exposure to some toxic materials, use of electrical equipment with moving parts, and the risks associated with breathing dust.

Most ceramic materials (clay and glazes) are made from finely ground particles and if not handled correctly can pose a general respiratory risk.

Students will be required to comply with all health and safety instructions and guidelines given by the tutor, in particular the following:

  • all surfaces must be kept clean of clay and glaze and the work area cleaned, using wet cleaning equipment, before students leave the studio

  • aprons and towels will be cleaned regularly to remove dry clay and must not be shaken

  • hair must be tied back when using pottery equipment

  • spillages of water or other liquids must be cleaned up immediately to avoid risks associated with a wet floor

Technical issues and breakages

Every care will be taken to ensure a successful outcome for students' work. However, ceramics is an unpredictable science with many factors affecting the finished result, including mechanical and technical anomalies. Cracking, crazing and breakages may occur for which we cannot be held responsible.
